A day of completely unnecessary but enjoyable driving

Found a Safeway (grocery store) with Wifi on the way home. Decided to stop and post yesterdays blog and Bill needs some Tylenol... he is catching my cold. :-(

So this morning started out with me having a weird dream about the mouse. LOL I dreamt that I had come out of the bedroom to use the bathroom and the mouse was trying to leave the house but my kitty Shadow was standing outside the sliding glass door, another kitty was standing outside the front door and both were trying to eat him. He then asked me for help to get out and promised not to come back in the house till after I had gone home. I did not want to see the little mouse hurt and so I distracted Shadow while he escaped. I then went to FINALLY went into the bathroom to find a nasty dirty disgusting rat waiting for me. I jumped up on the back of the toilet with my arms spread out on the walls trying not to fall while the rat snapped and jumped at me. Meanwhile Bill slept within eyesight of all the action while I screamed his name trying to get him to come and save me. I woke up with a start and discovered I REALLY had to pee. LOL

Knowing mice are nocturnal I figured it was safe to enter the living room, so after removing the blockade from in front of the door I came out of the bedroom and we have not seen the mouse again. Yet…

Bill made breakfast on the grill. I am so happy with my little Roadtrip Grill from Coleman. I bought the griddle attachment and it was perfect for making pancakes with ham and eggs. Then worked just as well for the grilled roastbeast and cheese we had for lunch. It also has a burner attachment that I could have used on the other side to heat up the soup we had with our sandwiches but why waste the stove we had in the kitchen?

Anyway, after breakfast we decided it was a little too chilly to go walk on the beach and it was a little hazy. So instead we decided to drive down to Ocean Shores to pick up a few things while we waited for the sun to burn off the haze. We went to get conditioner (since I forgot mine at the castle) and a few snack items for those times when you don’t want a meal but you need something. We drove down on the beach and then came back through the little town and went to the supermarket (not so super) and picked up our snacks and remove the roofs. On the way out of the area we watched as lines and lines of people headed in toward the ocean. We got a couple miles out when I realized…. We forgot the conditioner. We look to our handy dandy GPS and she tells us the next closest grocery store is 13 miles away. We figure we aren’t doing anything and the sky is still off and on overcast so off we go to the store. We arrive in Hoquiam and realize that the store is about the size of an average 7-11 and see that the Safeway in Aberdeen is only 2 miles off. We head off to Aberdeen, upon arriving we grab the conditioner and then decide to find a “scenic” route back to the cabins for lunch. We spend an extra 15 minutes getting back and then have lunch. By this time it is about 3pm and we still really haven’t done anything. So we decide we really want to drive in the sand with our new toy (Sunny the Jeep) so we head down to the water and discover that much of the area is blocked off to vehicles between May and September for “tourist season” (Is that when I get to shoot tourists?) so we drive down toward Ocean Shores again and drive out on the sand several miles north and mosey south on the beach area where cars are allowed. We find a little area of the dunes where 4wheelers have created a path and after bumping our way along that for a while we realized we might not be allowed to be there. Heh

Once we got back to Ocean Shores it was still fairly chilly but the sun was out full force so roofless we drove down all the back roads and found all the little nooks and crannies including the Jetty that was built to the south of the peninsula. We started getting hungry and luckily we had picked up a guide book from a shop we had been in earlier so I started perusing it to determine if there was anything that intrigued us for dinner. I discovered a place called Home Port Seafood and Steak. It looked interesting and had local flair. The specials looked interesting so I ordered a prime rib (8 oz for only $14.99) and Bill was intrigued by the Dungeness Crab Fettuccini. YUM! YUM! YUM! If you find yourselves in Ocean Shores I highly suggest you stop in. The atmosphere is similar to any family owned country style diner but the food is better than some meals I have easily paid twice as much for.

After dinner we meandered back up the beach toward the cabin. We got some great pictures of Sunny in the sunset and truly enjoyed the drive. The wind made the temperatures a bit unbearable but being able to sit in the jeep on the sand was excellent. Every day I am happy we got Sunny. She is the perfect vehicle for our adventures.

Back at the cabin I spent some time cleaning things up and packing anything we won’t need tomorrow morning. Loading all the unnecessaries into Sunny and then Bill built us a fire. We toasted some marshmallows and made smores. All in all a completely pointless day. I can’t wait to have more of them.

I am still battling this little cold I was blessed with but luckily it seems to be going through the cycles. My teeth are weird. My lower left root canal feels 100% fine. No pain or discomfort. My upper right the gums are all torn up from the dental dam they put on me and it hurts when I pucker or spit (figured this one out brushing my teeth) although it is not swollen so I am hoping it just needs some healing time. Anytime I eat something hard that hits the gum I am very aware of it. OUCH!

Tomorrow morning we head home. It will be so nice to get home and still have another day off to recoup and plan meals for the week. Monday starts a whole new push to lose weight. I am still determined to get below 200 pounds by our trip to Vegas in August. I am really going to have to crack down and work at this but I know I can do it… the shoes shops in Vegas are calling my credit card. LOL (for those that I haven’t told if I am under 200 by Vegas I get to buy myself a very nice pair of heels while I am there.) I will be planning out my meals for the week while we drive home tomorrow. If you have any ideas for healthy recipes I would love to hear them!
